Slic3r is a slicer software that turns your .stl or .obj file into a .gcode file. Basically, your .stl or .obj file stores information about your design, and the .gcode file stores information on how to print that design.
Tips!
After downloading Slic3r, you will need to step it up for the 3D printer you are using by entering in the correct information regarding the bed size, nozzle size, etc. The 3D printer in Mr. Gargione's room is a Prusa i3 MK3 printer. You can find the setup information for this 3D printer here, as shown in the image to the right.
After setting up Slic3r, you can transform your .stl or .obj files into .gcode files. Go to "Plater Settings" to change how the printer prints your design. If you can't figure out what a particular setting does in the Plater Settings, hover over the input box and a dialog box will pop up. If you're still stuck, check out the Slic3r manual here! |
